When do I need a new boiler installation?
A boiler typically needs replacing every 10 – 15 years. As your boiler gets older it will inevitably become less efficient. If your boiler keeps breaking down it may become more economical to have a new boiler installation rather than repair it.
What type of boiler should I choose?
The three main types of boilers are Combi boilers, System boilers and Conventional boilers.
The choice of boiler depends on certain factors. Such as the size of your home and the occupants and whether there are multiple bathrooms. A Combi Boiler probably wouldn’t be the most beneficial boiler to have installed in say, a 5 bedroom home with 5+ occupants and multiple bathrooms. Whereas a small 2-3 bedroom home with a 4 person family and one bathroom or a one or two bedroomed apartment may be ideal.
Space is also an important factor to consider, Combi boilers are small and efficient and have all the working parts installed inside the boiler itself. There is no need for a water feed tank, and it provides instant hot water on demand. A Conventional boiler however takes up much more room. This is because it needs to have a hot water tank, or cylinder installed. This is normally located in a loft or an airing cupboard. A Conventional boiler needs to heat the water before it can be used. This means you would need to program your boiler to facilitate your needs. Or turn the boiler on when you know you want to use it.
At FixLink we are also able to install Electric Boilers which you can find out more about by clicking here.
Where should my new boiler be installed?
This of course will depend on the type of boiler which is being installed and its size. Most typically boilers are installed in kitchens and utility rooms. This is something we will happily be able to advise on.
What is the best brand of boiler?
